It was special for me to plant a tree for my Mum, as I'm sure it was for everyone else who planted trees. The volunteers out there did a great job.

PLANT A TREE FOR MUM THIS MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s Day is an ideal time to pay tribute to mums who have passed away, as well as mums living. In conjunction with local Councils throughout New South Wales, we invite you to plant a tree that you can continue to nurture and watch grow throughout the year.

“Trees for Mum began nine years ago as a way for us to remember our mums on Mother’s Day” said Lauren Adlam, co-founder of the event in partnership with Deena Raphael. “We are thrilled it has now grown into a national celebration of all mothers – for those of us whose mums have died it’s a chance to remember and reflect. For those blessed to have a living mum, planting a tree is a lovely gesture and a great experience to share with family and friends.”

Lauren and Deena are very proud that more than 20,000 people have participated in Trees for Mum since 2002 – something they never would have predicted when they planned the inaugural event. ‘It is incredible to think we have reached so many people, and the feedback we receive is inspiring. Most people are so grateful for the opportunity to nurture the environment and create living and growing legacies for their wonderful mothers,” said Lauren.

More information on this fantastic event to be held on Mother’s Day Sunday 12 May 2013 between 9am and 12 noon, including details of the location of public planting sites around Australia, can be found at www.treesformum.com or by visiting our Face Book group at http://www.facebook.com/?sk=2361831622#!/group.php?gid=61777317901.

All are welcome, with trees and planting equipment supplied free of charge. Pre-registration is not required.
